I enjoy the author's books and stories. She is a fantastic writer. However, every book she writes the main character always goes through a loveless, unhappy marriage. Just like this book. Also, in this book I felt it just ended. There was no real conclusion.

I feel almost ashamed to admit it but this is my first time reading Jhumpa Lahiri. My only exposure to her work prior to this being my watching Mira Nair’s adaptation of The Namesake many years ago. What compelled me to pick up this novel was seeing it on Goodreads Anticipated Literary Reads for Readers of Color 2013.
This is a story of two brothers Subhash and Udayan. Subhash, the older brother by only 15 months, follows all the rules, never tests authority and never does anything spontaneous.
