Sherman Alexie has written an awesome book. It's the story about a fourteen-year-old Spokane Native American (Arnold Spirit Jr.). It covers topics such as friendship, abuse, alcoholism, death, and teenage sexuality. It covers the issue of ethnicity and the stress it places on the teenage psyche. Arnold Spirit Jr. coped by drawing cartoons. His humor and hope keep him going, plus the love of his family. ...more
