This was an eye opening book. It was told from the point of view of the person with Alzheimer's. Although I can't know for sure, I feel that it was pretty spot on. What a sad and scary disease Alzheimer's is. I don't think I'll ever forget this story. It made the issues personal for me, and changed my views on certain things. ...more

There is nothing is can add to what other reviewers have already said before me. Very well written without being over-emotional and VERY,VERY scary. I did not realise the speed with which Alzheimer can destroy a mind and it is devastating. The worst for me is knowing that you have it and it will destroy you is really bad, but knowing that you have passed it on to your children is too much to bare. For me this puts it in my "We need to talk about Kevin" category, which for me is books which deal ...more

Wow. I don't give 5* very easily and can't believe the first book I read in 2016 deserved one - but it did. This isn't literary fiction but it's still a story so well-told that you really feel like you're walking in the footsteps of Alice; and isn't that what reading is all about. I think this book is really going to stay with me. I just wish I'd read it years ago when my Nana was still alive and dealing with dementia - I think it would have given me a much better understanding of what she was g ...more
