I read this book for the Diversity in All Forms! Goodreads Book Club :) This was the selected book for the theme/topic of True Crime.

I enjoyed the book, especially learning about the background of Chicago. I also really enjoyed the ending where it stated that he could be the Devil because all these terrible things happened to the people that took him to trail and convicted him.

Was left wanting to know more about Holme's crooked and devious ways, gruesome as they were.
While, the background stories about the people who got the exhibition up and running and how, was captured really well, I would find my mind wandering when it came to those parts.
All in all, a wholesome historical true crime chronicle.

P.S.: I did go searching the worldwideweb for images of locales and buildings mentioned in the book.

I was thinking this was going to be kind of an action packed thriller of some type. I was completely wrong. I love the historical accuracy that went into making this. Yes, it was interesting to learn about the events surround H. H. Holme's life. I just was hoping the focus would be more on him. Just doesn't play out well when you expect it to be something totally different. ...more

Wow, this is an amazing retelling of major events in history. It's told in such a way that that facts really come to life. It's half the making of a monumental public attraction and half inside the life of a serial killer. ...more
