I read this book for my local science fiction reading group, and I read it quickly and with some distractions. I was less interested in the main characters than in the minor ones. I wanted the book reoriented around a later scene and to play a fictional board game important to the story.

I thought I was liking this book - a lot. The idea was interesting. Then, the problem that happened just didn't feel right. After that, teenage angst that just didn't feel true, a scientist who won't accept the data available from the circumstances.... On the planet, the mere survival to have the underground adventures. The worries about the water, which are then never mentioned again. It all just ran the story aground for me. ...more
