Thank you Viking and Edelweiss for providing the ARC of this prequel to Ken Follett’s Pillars of the Earth series. I didn’t have high hopes because I’m not usually enamored of prequels; I usually see them as a money grab of some kind. This, however, upended my expectations. I read the original series so long ago, I had some trouble connecting the characters here with those (I can no longer remember the names of the characters in the original series).
