Where do I start? I thought this book was absolutely great- exactly what I had hoped for. The characters were just *chef's kiss*. I loved Emma so much for so many reasons. She's such a kick-butt character and I love that she wasn't special. She's the best shadowhunter of her generation, but not because she's magic or she has special angel blood (looking at you, Clary). When Emma concludes that the killer is Malcom and even Dru comes and tells them that Tavvy is taken away, no one does anything.
When they are in the weapons room they waste a LOT OF TIME asking Keiren stuff just so we get to know how what happened.
They take their time going to the cave. And exactly reach before time. They spent so much time talking at the institute. What if something had happened to Tavvy then?

Despite a very slow start (which made me put reading Lady Midnight on and off for roughly 4 almost 5 months) I finally finished it and even through the soreness of my hand from holding this thick book I am so excited and eager to read the sequel especially with all that happened in the last hundred pages or so. This book was such a roller-coaster. I loved the whole story, the plot, the characters. I am not sure yet because I haven't read the other two books, but this series might be the best in The Shadowhunter Chronicles I read so far.
I like all of the Blackthorns, they are such an amazing family and Emma who is a CARSTAIRS...

And the fact that this whole story is based on love. Him doing all those things for love.
Wow.

If I could give this book 10 stars I would. The writing is AMAZING!!!
How Cassandra Clare writes and brings to life such complex and amazing characters is beyond me. Every character in this book is amazing. I never felt bored for even a second. The twist was amazing and I loved how there were so many clues just scattered along the book.
It was a very emotional read. There were a LOT of parts that made me sob my eyeballs out.
I love this book so much.
