I should probably discuss the frustration and anger this story pulled out of me with the twisting & turning mind games, deception, omissions, jealousy, paranoia, and CARNAC! Carnac all dressed up in his slimy charm and treachery brings out a very scary, insecure Toreth to play and sets my nerves on edge. I mean teeth grinding anger edge! But all I have in my eyes and heart right now are stars….

I guess it was okay. Paul was a nice colourful distraction, up until ...well yeah, not hard to guess what comes next huh?
Toreth is just such hard work and Warrick, well...
I just don't know what to do with you.
I'm getting tired of their drama now...

I liked the addition to the novel "Quis Custodiet" : "Ipsos Custodes" which is basically what Warrick was up to while Toreth was in Greece. It include a lot of technical talk about the sim and anti-Administration thinking, but it involves Carnac, and well, Carnac is always to be enjoyed even though he is so infuriating. I love the way he talks and is unable to mind is own business. That aside, this short story triggers what happens in "First against the Wall", and we get to understand more of Ca

..."What the fuck is real-time spline reticulation?" Don't worry Toreth, Warrick isn't laughing at you, he is laughing, er...with you...
Quis Custodiet (don't worry, I had to google it too...) is the 5th novella in The Administration series. Though it is not the fifth story I have read in the series, it follows along nicely with Manna's suggested reading order.

Toreth, Warrick and I seem to have a weird relationship. I absolutely love them, truly I do, but I need some breaks in between. Maybe they're just too intense for me, or it's the fact that they're really hard work, complicated people that can be hard to stand at times and easy to love at others.
Suffice it to say that I wanted to hug and kill Toreth during Quis Custodiet equally. He's so damn insecure about himself and his standing in this relationship with Warrick (even though he'd never call i ...more

Overall, this book was interesting. Some short stories were pretty boring though. They could even be removed from the book and it would improve the whole.

This probably only deserves three stars, but I'm weak, so I'm giving it 4 anyway. I don't really like the structure of the last two books, with the short stories etc. It's fine, but I would prefer it to be more traditionally like a book with one continuous storyline. Still, certain things save the book, like Toreth's outrageous lying. That's just priceless.
