Along with Malcolm Gladwell’s Talking with Strangers, I’m going to file this under 2020 reads that made me think hard and feel uncomfortable. This was a good read and an important read. I especially appreciate how Cole presents the Canadian context and does not, for one moment, allow me to take comfort in the “at least we’re not like the States” myth/excuse. He demands that I stay open and put my defensiveness on hold so that I can listen and try to start to understand.
