What Members Thought

This was an amazing book. When I started reading it, I was initially hooked because I was so shocked by the details of all the ways the justice system mistreats people of colour in Alabama. For some reason, I hadn't realized how recently segregational laws and other terrible practices carried out by the justice system were active. In my mind, I somehow imagined that the death penalty was only practiced in a few states, and only applied in cases where there was no doubt of the accused's guilt.
