I only finished this book so it would count toward my reading challenge. When I first chose the book I was excited to read a fictional account of life in Africville. Unfortunately, this novel lacks character development and I found I just couldn’t invest in many of the characters. I tried, I really did.
If you’re interested in the history of Africville, go ahead and pick this book up but don’t expect to be entertained too much. I even found myself skimming some paragraphs just to get through it.
