A solid read for those who liked Kristin Hannah's "The Nightingale." This WWII story follows a New York socialite who volunteers time and money for orphaned children in France during the war; a young Polish girl arrested and sent to the Ravensbruck concentration camp for women where hideous medical experiments were performed on the prisoners; and the only female doctor at the Ravensbruck camp. Love WW2 historical fiction. This one did not work for me. I am really stunned at all the great reviews. The story just didn't flow and the characters were not sympathetic ...more
