What Members Thought
This is Flynn's first novel, and the one I read last. It's clear that her writing became stronger, smoother, and more confident with Dark Places, and then hit brilliance with Gone Girl. While I enjoyed this story, I was put off by the choppy sentence rhythm, predictability and details added seemingly for shock value alone. There are a couple of thrilling surprises at the end, but also some loose ends that are never tied up. I look forward to her next novel; I know she gets better than this first
