What Members Thought
I did become super interested in the leper colony in Hawaii because of this novel. Fascinating history, and descriptions of leprosy- I cared about the protagonist, enjoyed the storyline, and found some parts of the novel riveting. I may be an impatient reader, and that's why 3 stars- way too many tangents for me-the book could've been shaved by at least 1/3rd if not half, in my impatient opinion.
