What Members Thought
I won't rate this because I only read about an eighth of the novel. I didn't enjoy the author's writing style, but I plugged along because our book club chose this for discussion. It was a scene [SPOILER ALERT] in which the protagonist meets, I assume, the girl soon to be his love interest, and she has just gotten off the train to a concentration camp, and he is tattooing her, and an SS officer is looming near her, and the protagonist looks at her, looks in her eyes, and they are "dancing" eyes,
