I enjoyed this book a great deal. I knew nothing about the subject matter when I started reading it. It is so well written that you come to know the family as individual characters and recognize them as individuals and people rather than the royalty they represent. For me, this was truly a page turner. Learning more about each individual sister as they grow and mature, the pressure on the tsar and tsarina to have boy and how much was invested in that outcome.
