This was a 4 1/2 star read for me. I loved both MC's, and I was engrossed in the plot. When I finished the book, I immediately looked for the sequel, and counted the days till release in my head. It was almost a 5 for me - the thing that kept me from that were the faint echoes of Pepper Winters' Indebted series that I couldn't quite banish, especially toward the beginning of the book. All in all though, it's an excellent start to the duology, and I can't wait to see how it is resolved. ...more

I think I need to wash my brain out. And I hate to be an Italian snob but I will….

This is my first in the dark romance category and first book by Natasha Knight. I’m in a group that read this as the BOTM. I’m not sure what to say. If this is what dark romance is about this will be my one and only read in that genre. But judging by other reviewers familiar with this genre, they were disgusted also. I won’t repeat what so many other low star ratings have said, especially not taking a deep dive in I think I need to wash my brain out. And I hate to be an Italian snob but I will….

This is my first in the dark romance category and first book by Natasha Knight. I’m in a group that read this as the BOTM. I’m not sure what to say. If this is what dark romance is about this will be my one and only read in that genre. But judging by other reviewers familiar with this genre, they were disgusted also. I won’t repeat what so many other low star ratings have said, especially not taking a deep dive into the psychological F-ups that this story has. This is the 21st C but this plot is so archaic… paying off an ancestral debt by having the eldest Scafoni son choose a virgin daughter from the Willow family. He would own her for a year and pass her off to her brothers to use. I can’t even….

I could see this maybe 100 years ago. I even gave the concept in the 21st C the benefit of the doubt if there was more caring/compassion from the Hero . But (view spoiler)

What greatly disturbs me is how some of the high star reviews loved this. I seriously don’t know how. Outright abuse and rape disguised as BDSM. The Hero left her attached to a whipping post outside for hours.
I’m not a prude. I’ve read my fair share of erotica and don’t mind mild BDSM if it has a good story with developed characters. But this whole book made me so uncomfortable. The Heroine was not enjoying it even if the writer was trying to make her.

Now, for my Italian nitpicky comments. I was born and raised in America with Italian relatives back in Italy, so I'm familiar with the culture. The three brother: No Italian is named Sebastian or Ethan… maybe Gregory (Gregorio in Italian). I can imagine if he decided to keep that name when he was state side for school. Since their parents are Italian from Italy, I find it hard that they would name their sons with Anglo names. It’s not hard to do an internet search to provide a few Italian names for this book. And the other characters in the book who are so obviously native to Italy are given the English versions. The lawyer Joseph should have been Giuseppe. Yea, this may be a stupid pet peeve but it just takes a few taps on a keyboard to fix this and give them proper names.

I listened to this on audio as I could do chores around the house. I don't think I would have had the patience to sit and read this.

Talk about fulfilling your family obligations being torturous This is book one of the dark legacy duet and it is dark and so so good!

WOW!! This Trilogy!! Every story makes you feel!! I love it! The first two books are duet and thank goodness I had book two ready to go. WOW! My favorite is Twisted because my heart belongs to Gregory♥️♥️
