The Hooker and The Hermit had me “hooked” from the very first page. It has to be one of the most intelligent and witty romances I have ever read!

Annie Cartel is a walking contradiction. She works as a consultant making over celebrity’s images, yet she has very little social interactions with people. However, unbeknownst to anyone, she runs a blog making witty and hilarious comments about clueless celebrities. She dresses in baggy clothes so she won’t stand out. Yet, she is beautiful and doesn’t The Hooker and The Hermit had me “hooked” from the very first page. It has to be one of the most intelligent and witty romances I have ever read!

Yet, she is beautiful and doesn’t go unnoticed by her new client, Ronan Fitzpatrick. Ronan is on his way to being the best “hooker” for a rugby team in Ireland. But, he has come to New York to change his reputation in the media after his temper gets the best of him. The two are complete opposites. She has trouble interacting with people in public but thrives as her online personality. He is being dragged kicking and screaming into the world of social media. The attraction between Annie and Ronan is off the charts. Ronan is a shameless flirt, but Annie wants no part of a relationship. As she spends more time with him, he is able to break down some of the walls she has erected. She realizes he isn’t the jerk the media is portraying him to be. Can these two opposites find happiness together, and what will happen when their secrets come to light?

I loved the sexy, steamy romance and their chemistry, and let me tell you there was fire in the bedroom. I’m still fanning myself….However, I liked the commentary on the celebrity and social media age we live in today where the internet can sometimes replace everyday interactions with people.

“No person is ever truly their online or media persona. For better or worse, the human condition, desires, and faults are so much more robust than pixels on a screen or words beneath a caption.”

This quote struck me and really made me think about how much time I spend on a computer. While I love the friends I have made online, in fact, I have met a few in person, and they have become like family to me, interacting with people “in person” is also important. And, sometimes we forget celebrities are human; they aren’t always the image we perceive them to be.

I could go on and on about all the things I loved about this book, but there isn’t enough space to fill it up with all my reasons. If you are looking for some satire, laughs, love, and hot sex, this one has it all. I haven’t read anything by these two phenoms before, but I sure am glad I found them.

A first for me by both authors, and boy what a lovely surprise.

I will admit that I didn't know what a hooker was, but I knew right away it didn't refer to Annie. I had to go online before reading to find out which sport had a position with the name. I didn't read anything about this book except the title before starting it. I just thought that the title itself was kinda quirky, so in that case I would give the book a try.

So exceptionally glad I did!!!
