Why did I wait so long to read this book?

I don’t think I have the capacity to put into words what to say about this story and Coleen Hoover. I don’t think I can do it justice. It has been on my to be read list since the comments started to flow on the Amazon discussion board.

I opened the first page and it was titled - Sunday, October 28th – 7.29.
I was hooked. I started reading it at 13.13 and finished it 9.45 pm. I read it whilst I was making our tea, I didn’t have any conversation with my husb Why did I wait so long to read this book?

I was hooked. I started reading it at 13.13 and finished it 9.45 pm. I read it whilst I was making our tea, I didn’t have any conversation with my husband. I just read it. Coleen Hoover just blew me away with this story.

“I will not cry the indescribable pain that follows and rips out your heart and gut. I hate you, I hate you I hate you and I combust”.

When I read this I instantly thought “what has Holder done to her?” is this what the story is going to be about? Young love? Has he broken her heart? As I started to read I could not have foreseen the twist that was coming or the intense subject matter.

After been taught at home for years Sky is now finishing her last year at a “real school” Sky is quiet, reserved and her “Mom” has not allowed her to won own a mobile phone, have access to the internet or Facebook. She has only had one true friend 6, her neighbour. Sky does not care about the bitches that she meets at school not matter how hard they try to get under her skin. Sky could not care less about them. They didn’t matter. But Sky makes one friend at school, Breckin a gay Mormon and then enter Dean “Holder” – OMG Holder.

Hopeless is an incredible story that is layered with many emotions, secrets and pain and at times is it gut wrenching dark but she also blends it with some light hearted moments and I laughed out loud at the banter between Holder and Sky.

Colleen Hoover has a tremendous gift. Her writing skill is eloquent, strong and very appealing and her stories just suck you in. I could feel the hurt and the pain that these characters had to shoulder and as the story unfolds it just takes hold of your heart.

If you have this on your “to be read” list then put it to the top. You won’t be disappointed. It is heart wrenchingly wonderful and deserves more than 5 stars. ...more

Wow... that't really all I can say. I have to say that my initial instinct was that one of the things happened to Sky then I thought it was the other. Nothing could have prepared me for everything that would happen to both she and Holder. I found myself gasping and covering my mouth with several things were revealed.

And wouldn't life be wonderful if we could all have a Holder in our lives? True honesty to any question and response? I can't even imagine it. I loved SLAMMED and POINT OF RETREAT an Wow... that't really all I can say. I have to say that my initial instinct was that one of the things happened to Sky then I thought it was the other. Only because I've read second offerings from other authors whom I've loved the first book(s) only to be disappointed by the second. This wasn't the case at all.

I laughed in a lot of places and was really heartbroken in others. I couldn't read it fast enough to know how it all was going to end. I kept trying to find spoilers and have to say that all the reviewers and bloggers were good about not giving anything away, which I'm trying to do the same here. I have a habit of talking about the characters like they are real people and questioning what they do. I don't want to do that here, because I want to encourage anyone who's thinking of reading this book to do so for themselves and to experience what the story has to offer.

I love how good Colleen is at making each character whole. I don't wonder who they are or why they are part of the story no matter how minor they are. She seems to weave them in to make the time we are with them worth their time in the story. I've read so many books where minor characters are mentioned, but I have no idea why the were discussed, shown or what they mean to the story. Even Six was clearly part of this story from beginning to end. You get her place in Sky's life and what she meant to it even though she was out of the country for most of the book and her interactions took place mostly in texts or conversations about her with other people. That's true talent of an author who makes the smallest character mean something to the entire story.

Hopeless was my first Colleen Hoover novel, and I can definitely say that it will not be my last! There is nothing that I like more than having an novel create emotions, and then make me feel them right along with the characters and that is exactly what Hopeless did.

I want to start off my review by saying that in the first couple of pages, I wasn't exactly hooked on the story. It was enough to keep my attention and to keep me reading but that was about it. As soon as Holder is in 5 Huge Stars

Hopeless was my first Colleen Hoover novel, and I can definitely say that it will not be my last! There is nothing that I like more than having an novel create emotions, and then make me feel them right along with the characters and that is exactly what Hopeless did.

I want to start off my review by saying that in the first couple of pages, I wasn't exactly hooked on the story. It was enough to keep my attention and to keep me reading but that was about it. As soon as Holder is introduced, I was hooked! I absolutely love Colleen's writing style. Its witty and and its just plain enjoyable to read. As much as this was such a serious and gut-wrenching story, there were some scenes when you just couldn't help but laugh out loud. The dialogue was wonderful, and the same thing goes for the plot.

In the beginning, I really wasn't sure how powerful this book was going to be. By the time that I reached the end of the book, I was literally blown away. I have read books before that have been intense and have left an impact on me, but Hopeless was SO much more than I was ever expecting it to be. I was left completely inspired by the end of it.

Going into this book, I really had absolutely no idea what it was going to be about,apart from the synopsis that was given. I'm not going to go into any plot details, so that others who have not read this book can still enjoy the surprise of it,but I was completely floored. I find it so enjoyable when a book is able to completely shock me, and that's exactly what Hopeless has done. Usually, I can figured out what's going to happen with the plot, but that didn't happen at all with this book, and I think that Colleen Hoover has done such a wonderful job with building that suspense and keeping her readers guessing.

I don't think that there was one character in this book that I didn't end up liking. It was pretty hard not to at least. The main character of this story is Sky, a young girl who is completely emotionally numb, and fully believes that she is in not capable of feeling anything. ..until Holder comes into the picture. He is the first guy to truly make Sky realize that she is capable of feelings, and he is the only guy who has been able to show this to her. Sky and Holder have a very real relationship, and its so enjoyable to see the chemistry that's there between them grow, and how their relationship eventually comes to be.

Even now, I still cannot find a thing that I didn't like about this book. There really isn't anything that I could critique. This book has very easily become one of my favourite books that I have read this year. I'm definitely looking forward to reading Losing Hope.

WOW! Just wow. I don't think I have ever noted, bookmarked or highlighted any book as much as I have this one. I almost instantly fell in love with Holder the more I read him the more I fell. How could you not fall for a guy who says stuff like this?

This is one of those books that makes me wish I was a member of a book club...because after I finished I just wanted to talk about it and hash out all the feelings this book evoked.

I was surprised that in all the reviews I read there was no real warning about the subject content, because to a lot of readers, it could be something you could be very sensitive to.

There is so much I want to say and discuss but its so hard to do without giving away spoilers so I'll just leave it that I really enjoyed ...more

This book has a bit of everything in it but it definitely broke my heart. Sky and Holder were two very broken people. Sky's story completely made me tear up a bunch. Especially near the end.
