New author for me, and I found this gem checking my friends feed on Good Reads. And OMG I am so happy I clicked this read. I cried. I laughed. And I just plain fell in love with this story. Even with how it all played out, I can't rate this enough.

When Emory transfer Brentwood University, she's still in the process of dealing with a bad breakup. Six years of her life wasted on an asshole who she pretty much threw her life away for. Giving up her friends, her dreams and herself for him. But when she catches him cheating on her the way she handled that? Omg it was priceless, and so visually funny what she did (I'll let you experience it for yourself) but needless to say you need to read it to picture it.

Okay so now she's away from this cheating ass and is now at Brentwood, back with her two best friends and starting over. Doing what she dreamed of always doing. Meeting someone new is so far off her radar it's not even a possibility in her mind. But seeing Knox Gentry (god I love his name) and she is re-thinking her choice, not that she'll admit it.

Knox Gentry (ahh his name) is a baseball god. This guy is going places, Major league places. But Knox is also a good guy. He's funny, charming and loveable. And the moment he meets Emory he know's in that instant that she's someone he was meant to meet. And he's relentless in his pursuit. I can't say enough about him but he is such a genuinely refreshing lead character that you can't help but smile as you read. The banter between these two is off the charts. Their text messages? OMG I'm still smiling big they were funny, hot and made you want more.

But Emory is wary, she's over her ex but six years of your life is not easy to forget. She values the friendship she's formed with Knox. It's special and she doesn't want to lose that. But she also can't deny the attraction either. It's a slow build, but it's also damn sexy hot. Everyone is on board and rooting for these two. His team-mates, his mom (she is GOLD and I fell in love with her) her best friends who push her when needed. And just when you think its going to be happily ever after it's not. She lets him go. Knox has a huge future ahead of him and Emory knows that him trying to hold on to them will ruin it eventually. Knox though is heart broken. He doesn't see it that way. But Emory is adamant and won't be swayed. She loves him enough to let him go. Cue the ugly crying. It was not pretty and I seriously thought WTF? I put the book down and thought I can't deal with this. It's like they broke up with me, personally.

Fast forward over the next eight years. You get a glimpse of what they have both achieved. Knox went onto Baseball glory. Emory achieved her goal and became a librarian. Neither forgot the love they had for each other.

But it's meeting eight long years later and what they had really never left either of them. There’s angry words, loss and pain. And I must admit I'm still pissed at Emory for making that decision for them both but I can see her point of view. But once you get past all of what they lost and could have had you realise that the right choices were made for them at the time.

I fell in love with Knox Gentry and this story. I can't give it enough stars.

This is the hottest slow burn I have ever read! Emory is the master at playing hard to get. She is all about making Knox work for every second of her time. Knox is one of my favorite Meghan Quinn men ever. He's funny, confident, and very creative...if you get my drift. I love Meghan's wit and humor that she writes in to her stories, it's so genuine. Even with a self assured top of the food chain jock like Knox, she makes him so damn likable that the word cocky is an insult to describe him. And ...more
