Wow, talk about a debut bang out of the gate!
Chakraborty had me hooked from the first page with a strong narrative voice that expertly dips into free indirect discourse to get us inside the head of Nahri, living hand to mouth in Cairo, scamming and thieving from the wealthy, and trying to learn how to manage her wild healing talent.
