Blood-Song is one of those tales where the story strays from what the Inquisitor is learning. While the main character of the story, Vaelin, depicts his origin and up to the point where he is. He changes certain details as to keep the memories to himself; but the reader always knows.
It is an interesting origin story with in depth characterization, world building, and story creation.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the writing - it is, in a word, wonderful. Anthony Ryan has a marvellous way with words that keeps you turning the pages, not realising that it's now 4am and you have to get up to go to work in a few hours.

I love finding new epic fantasy series to dive into. This book had all the things I wanted- great characters, good setting, new interesting word, cool magic, war, love, friendship, loss. Honestly the perfect recipe for a great fantasy novel. I felt like this book lagged in certain parts, mainly from around the halfway point till like the 3/4 mark, where it picks up again. But apart from that I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to pick up the next book.
