I went into Traitor's Blade with high expectations, as I love adventure fantasy and I had heard great things about the strong friendship shared by the main characters. Thankfully, this was as immersive and enjoyable as I had been expecting! I flew through the story quickly, and enjoyed nearly the entire journey. Falcio has become an instant favourite, while his companions, Kest and Brasti, are characters I'm looking forward to getting to know in the coming volumes.

This is a promising start to a series. It follows the life of three 'Greatcoats' after the disbandment of their order and the death of their king. The 'Greatcoats' have a strong moral code that is hard to life by and causes them no end of trouble. Falcio is the star of the book and we follow his journey in trying to keep a young girl alive and follow a dying code.

Traitor's Blade is the first book in the Greatcoats series and honestly, I'm way behind on reading this one so I doubt I'll be revealing anything new to anyone. It follows the adventures of Falcio, leader of the once great traveling magistrates known as the Greatcoats who are now renowned for their treachery in stepping aside during the overthrow of the king by the aristocracy. But they still have a mission to fulfill from their dead King and Falcio isn't about to let him down.

I don't think it was a good idea reading this along with The First Law. My head is seriously messed up right now.
This gave me the same feels that Poppy War did. Frustration, annoyance, a great urge to plunge into the book and burn few characters. I don't know why I read grim dark with its unforgiving world and unredeemable characters. I guess I just like pain. ...more

This series was a complete surprise. I had never heard of the author or the series before stumbling on the audiobook. It will likely rank in my top 10 list for being thoroughly entertaining. Having read and listened to hundreds of fantasy, Sci Fi and Swords and Sandals novels it is a rare treat when I can be carried away by a story and a group of characters. This was a rare find indeed.

Simply one of the greatest fantasy debuts I've ever read. Propulsive, delightful, funny and heartwrenching. Ticks all the damn boxes.

Traitor’s Blade is a novel I was honestly a little surprised ended up being one of my favorite reads this March! At first glance, this is a book I should have hated— it has some of my least favorite fantasy tropes, like the pretty young wife who dies horribly as the big call to action for the protagonist, and it’s very much a Man’s Fantasy Novel, which is not one of my favorite genres. On top of that, a key plot element relies on the PoV character not realizing something that is extremely obviou

I have never wanted to like a book so much and yet felt so disappointed. There is so much in this story to like: the setting, camaraderie of the characters and their banter, the history of the world, and fantastic fight scenes, etc. Perfect.
The problem, the author knows how to create a really good story, but not how to tell it.

I only rated this three stars the first time I read it?!? What was I thinking??? I re-read this book recently so that I could continue with the series, and I really enjoyed it. Can't believe I only gave it three stars.
