I don’t really want to write an extensive review on this one. Is there anything I can say that hasn’t already been said? I’m sure I recognized, to some degree, that this story was meaningful when I was a kid but I’m also certain that the bulk of its symbolic depth went way over my head. I’m so glad we chose this book for our book club. Revisiting it through adult eyes was an enlightening experience and I’m really looking forward to our group discussion.

I previously rated this 4 stars based on my memory of reading it as a child, but actually on revisiting it as an adult I love it even more! This is the best nature writing I've ever read, how the themes of the garden coming alive was related to the development of the characters was expertly done and wasn't dumbed down for children. It was just a joy to be with these characters and I will continue to heartily recommend this classic.
