I just finished reading this one. I also give this one 5 stars. I didn’t even review the other books until I finished this book because I had to know what happened. Wow Suzanne left you hanging till the very end. I was expecting that was how it would end up with Katniss but several of my friends who read it at work said they were completely unsure how it would turn out.

The author of this book is Suzanne Collins. She is the author of the Hunger Games series, and also the author of When Charlie Mcbutton Lost Power and The Gregor series.I thought the genre of Mocking Jay is Dystopia and Adventure. I think the genre is Distopia because it is a world gone wrong with a war started by an uprising.I think the genre is also Adventure because Katniss Everdeen the main character travels from district to district trying to stop a war she never knew she started.The narrat The author of this book is Suzanne Collins. I think the point of view makes the book better because it helps you understand the story better. It helps the story because if we didn’t know her thoughts we wouldn’t know what the setting looks like, what the characters look like, and we wouldn’t understand the story that much because there wouldn’t be an explanation of what the plot or theme is. I think the point of view also males the book better because when we finish each chapter we always want to know more and Katniss’s thoughts gives us details which makes the book more interesting. This book Mocking Jay is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen who is the leader of an uprising she never even knew about, in this book she has to fight for the people she loves and the world she once knew.
The setting for Mocking Jay is all the districts and the capitol. The settings take place in multiple houses/apartments, underground, and in cities. I think this book takes place in the future because there are hovercrafts. It is also the future because it says in the book in a place that used to be North America. I think the setting changes the story because if it wasn’t the future there wouldn’t be hovercrafts or the Hunger Games. The setting for this book is really good because it makes the story unsual with 13 districts and the capitol. The setting does change the way the plot moves or the characters interact. I think this because if there were no woods it would ruin the way Katniss and Gale met then we wouldn’t have someone to watch over the main character Katniss, and if she dies then there would be no Mocking Jay and if there’s no Mocking Jay then the title can’t be Mocking Jay.
The main characters in this book is Katniss a girl who doesn’t follow orders and a very strong tuff girl. What makes her special is that she is the Mocking Jay who started the uprising. Gale a boy who protects Katniss and someone who usually starts a fight and gets mad over everything. What makes him unique is that he knows how to set up snares and hunt really well. Peeta a used to be sweet boy who is obsessed on killing Katniss. What makes him unique is the way he can paint and frost cakes. Haymitch a drunk but smart depressed man with no family. What makes him special is the way he sleeps with a knife. Prim the sweet little sister of Katniss who can see the worst of people in a good way. What makes her special is the way she can heal people. President Coin the president of district 13 also a very bossy person who doesn’t really like Katnis. What makes her special is the way the way she runs district 13. Also Katniss’s mother a loving kind person who works to heal the hurt. What also makes her unique is the way she can heal people as well. The supporting characters in this book is Finnick a funny young man who was threatened by President Snow. What makes him unique is how brave he is also how fast he can tie knots. Annie a girl who blacks out when getting spoken to also the girl that Finnick loves. What makes her unique is how she doesn’t show how hurt she is. Plutarch the head game maker who saved Katniss from the arena. What makes him unique is how he betrayed the capitol no matter what the risk. President Snow a old man hated by everyone, who kills family‘s, also the one who created the Hunger Games. What makes him unique is how he can sense an uprising and just rain bombs down everywhere, so really the way he is is unique is how much power he has. Peacemakers the guards that work for president snow and do what he says. What make them unique is the way they risk having the job without getting married. Prep team the people who dresses up Katniss and makes her look beautiful. What makes them unique is the way they can make someone look unrecognizable. Boggs a man who works for President Coin and someone who likes Katniss. What makes him unique is the way he works the Holo and knows where some bombs are planted. Beetee a victor of the Hunger Games who is very smart. What makes him unique is the way he can hack the capitols news with district 13’s video’s of the Mocking Jay. Also the way he creates weapons. And lastly Effie Trinket the girl that hates bad manners, doesn’t like Haymitch when he’s drunk, and someone who likes to be on schedule. What makes her special is the way she makes everyone on time.
The characters relate to the plot because they cause the plot. I think the plot of this story is when they go to the districts and fight back at the capitol. The characters cause this because when the bombs are raining down the characters try to destroy the hovercrafts. The hero is katniss because she trying to save everyone from the capitols control. The hero in this book Katniss Everdeen needs to conquer the capitol and President Snow. The supporting characters help the hero Katniss because they are always by her side trying to protect and help her. Beginning when Katniss is looking at her destroyed home district 12 that President Snow destroyed. Rising Action when Katniss see’s Peeta on television and requests that if they save Peeta and the other victors than she will agree to be the Mocking Jay. Climax when Katniss agrees to be the Mocking Jay and they start district to district trying to get the districts on there side to overthrow the capitol. Falling Action when they go on there mission to overthrow the capitol and kill President Snow. Resolution They overthrow the capitol president Snow and President Coin die and there are no more Hunger Games.
I think the theme of this book is “anything is possible if you keep trying”. I think this is the theme because Katniss kept doubting that she can save Peeta and the victors, she can overthrow the capitol by getting all the districts on her side, and that President Snow would die and she would save Panem. But she tried and Peeta/ victors were saved, she overthrew the capitol, and President Snow died and she saved Panem.
I thought this was a really good book but I think Hunger Games and Catching Fire were better but I give this book ***** 5 stars. Something I like about this book is the way you can’t make a summary of it because you will give the plot away. I think this is cool because it makes you want to read the book even more. I also like the way the book has a lot of description because it helped me understand the book better. Which is how I can figure out the theme. Some parts of the book I enjoyed a lot was when they were trying to cure Peeta by playing a game called real/ or not real? I liked this part of the book because it made me laugh when Peeta is a psycho trying to kill people and demand answers. I also like the Part when President Snow dies because I didn’t like him he was mean and he’s a murderer. The last part in the book I liked was when Prim dies. I liked this part because it almost made me cry because Prim was a nice girl. Another reason why liked the Part when Prim dies is because it made me want to know more and read more. I thought the Plot was the most compelling out of the literary elements because it got me hooked to the book and made me wonder how the characters were going to deal with the plot and solve the problem. I would recommend this book to people who likes dystopia and adventure books because this book has a lot of adventure with the main character Katniss. Also it is a world gone wrong. ...more
