What Members Thought

I'm not going to lie- I read this book because I was going to go see the film. And while this was a reread, I enjoyed both times.
There is this distinctive John Green type of writing style that I'm not overtly fond of - but that's alright, it's not something that ruins the book for me or anything. I think the story is overtold to be honest but there's something about Hazel and Gus that just get to me.

I'm giving 5 stars to this book. And here are the reasons:
1.) i can't stop reading the book. To be honest, the first time i read this last year (requested by my friend) i never liked it coz it talks about "cancer patient" and i really hate reading books about sick people or about particular diseases that leads to death. It will make me sick and sad! And i hate being sad.
2.) this book made me cry. This book contains some very heartbreaking events that would make you tear up a bit or maybe alot. ...more

Hazel and Augustus are teens who are struggling with cancer and its "side effects." One of the side effects is Hazel not wanting to get too close to anyone because she sees herself as a "grenade" poised to hurt all in her path when she does succumb to her disease. She will eventually learn that everyone leaves scars even when you seek to minimize the damage you create. I will admit this made me cry.
