Its hard not to be affected by this breathtaking book. In short, a modern epic. It drives home the point how precious freedom(especially for women) is and how its not to be taken lightly. I loved the way the author carried the metaphor of the Sun that stood for Afghanistan, especially Kabul, throughout the book. To quote a translation of a poem from the book,
“One could not count the moons that shimmer on her roofs,
Or the thousand splendid suns that hide behind her walls.”

Mesmerizing. Happiness to tragedies, and then tragedies turned to a most unexpected reunion and happiness. The book talked about the great love and relationship between a couple during the war time. I'll never forget this book. ...more
