What Members Thought

A book written in plain and simple language, yet it is one of the hardest books I have read. Once I actually stopped reading and did not dare to pick it up again for twenty days. And even when I resumed reading, I almost gave it up three times because the pain I foresaw ahead felt much too hard to bear.
The book has a powerful story and alive and believable characters. Excellently written. But it belongs to the list of books that I admire, but probably won't dare to read again. ...more

what i love most about khaleed Hosseini s book is the multiple store's that somehow all connected, it shows simply that everyone in their role are important and can be hero, as in his books it is clear you cant easily decide who is the book hero , its not the role , or how much time you have in this world, but mostly it is love ; the love you give and the love you received. mariams life was quiet ordinary at the beginning , because she didnt believed she is valuable, or deserve to be loved since

Very captivting book, ofcourse a page turner. Reading this book felt like i am in the midst of an Afgan war, facing all the struggles. We can see not just male domination but the enslavement and toil of women, where the feminism is silent or kept silent. The war, its effects on civilians and its after effects are depicted beautifully. Now a fan of Khaled Hosseini. :)

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would!! I am having trouble finding the words to adequately describe my thoughts. This story was heartbreaking and at the same time hopeful. The characters will forever be in my heart. This book was “heavy”, but I am blessed to have read it and cannot recommend it enough!!! Love love love!
