Πολύ καλό βιβλίο με όμορφη γραφή αλλά όχι τόσο δυνατή πλοκή. Δεν είμαι και τόσο σίγουρη αν θέλω να διαβάσω τα υπόλοιπα βιβλία του συγκεκριμένου συγγραφέα. Ίσως στο μέλλον όταν θα έχω όρεξη για ιστορική φαντασία τέτοιου είδους. :)

Humans have flaws. Even the most selfless ones. This book tells stories of people from different worlds intertwined with the relation of either blood or simple humanity; filled with remorse, sympathy,love and flaws. And may be it does not matter what flaws we might have, but it does matter when we begin using them against us.

I really enjoyed this book, though there were so many characters I could hardly keep them straight (this is where the x-ray feature on my kindle really came in handy). I liked the characters and could picture and feel them, however, they got old too quickly. I would have liked to see more of their lives, Pari, Abdulla, as they grew up without each other. Again a beautiful interwoven story. I was initially wary of reading Hosseni, his stories are so heart-rendingly tragic but this one was surprisingly gentle. It doesnt have absolute blackness of character or paralysing despair. Life goes on despite the losses n challenges. It didnt bring Afganistan alive as his other books had done. But i was kind of relieved to have read this one n felt like chiding myself for avoiding it for so long.
