A bit of a departure from Hosseini's previous two books, And the Mountains Echoed will probably be remembered as a transition novel in what will undoubtedly be a stellar catalog of books from him. Hosseini's new book is more of a collection of short stories that are all interwoven together which to me leaves it a little cold at times. Humans have flaws. Even the most selfless ones. This book tells stories of people from different worlds intertwined with the relation of either blood or simple humanity; filled with remorse, sympathy,love and flaws. And may be it does not matter what flaws we might have, but it does matter when we begin using them against us.

Although I did not agree upon many of the points of view of the author regarding the situation in Afghanistan (Taliban, Mujahideen or Afghan government) but the way it ended ...more

The book was just ok, not a page turner like Kite Runner.I felt the story just rambled from here to there,I got confused between the various characters since the stories seemed disjoint.

Even the brother-sister theme which I thought was the main idea of the book could be described better.Only the first and last 100 pages actually depicted their bond!And of course the entire theme revolves around sadness,so was not enjoyable like his other books!

What a beautiful experience it has been reading thhis book! Hands down, my favorite of his three books. Not that they aren`t all great, this one really touched me and will reaonate with me as we are truly not alone and our actions eternally resonate through our family and friends for years to come.
