it fills you with dread. A taut storyline. Involves marriage, its breakdown, aftermath, alcoholism, cheating, everything but above all, the banality of it all. Told from the eyes of the girl who travels on the local train in London and sees it all, what she doesnt see she imagines well. Not too much romance in the typical sense but aftereffects of love are what causes the whole complex situation

I picked up this book because I had heard many praises of it. One of my friends had recommended it to me as well. So, I had huge expectations when I started reading this book. Sorry to say, I was sorely disappointed.
The only thing that I liked in this novel is how secrets are revealed when you least expect them. Little by little, layers get peeled off to give another glimpse of the hidden picture.
Other than that, the book failed to hold my interest. I didn't even feel curious to know the killer ...more

It felt similar to Gone girl in the starting with all the cheating but it turned out to be completely different towards the end of the book. None of the characters portrayed in the book are anywhere near normal including the therapist.
A very good reading experience though the suspense can be easily figured out towards the middle of the read.

Absorbing thriller, great plot and a good recommendation

Something Bad Happened... But I was so Drunk to know what...
seriously, i won't say it is a good book, coz i have forced myself to finish it up... But the thing for which i have given 4 star is that, even after closing the book (coz it was hard to read and cope up with the characters) the story never left me, it was always on back of my head. the thing which forced me to complete the whole book... For me which is great.. So yeah, I give 4 stars to this annoying book...

Very predictable. I was told this was similar to "Gone Girl". Not even close. It wasn't nearly as well written or suspenseful. I was disappointed.

I absolutely loved this!! A lot of people are comparing this to Gone Girl, but it reminded me of Before I Go To Sleep. I loved the suspense of this and I honestly had no clue what to expect, so I like that I was surprised. This is the kind of thrilling suspense that keeps you up until 3:00 am finishing!! Can't wait until Paula writes another!!
