Percy Jackson has never really fit in. He has been kicked out of 6 schools in 6 years. He has dyslexia and ADHD. Pretty sad for a 12 year old. But his whole world is about to change when he is attacked by his math teacher on a school field trip. His world begins to get stranger and stranger and he finds out the Greek gods are real and his father is a god. He is then sent on a quest with far reaching consequences. I really enjoyed this story. it was fun and the characters fascinating.
predictable--but wonderful
I saw the movie first before reading this book. Didn't know at first that the movie was adapted from a book, and at the time of watching the movie I thought the movie was A-okay. Adventurous, funny, informative at the same time (on greek mythology), but..... now that I've read the book, like always, the book is way..... better than the movie.

I actually loved this book!
It was a fun mix of adventure with bits of education regarding Greek Mythology.
Percy Jackson is unable to remain in any number of boarding schools. After having been kicked out again, he's on his way to summer camp and is attacked by a Minotaur. He eventually finds out that he is the offspring of liaison, nice word choice huh, of his mother and a Greek god!
He then embarks upon an adventure to clear his name in the eyes of Zeus and to prevent an all out war between his ...more

The concept of the book is really different-Greek mythology,Gods and heroes.That is what I liked the best about the book.But the way the story enfolded around Percy was a bit childish.Suitable for kids in their early teens.Overall a fast paced read.
