Plot :Seven Families. Their Banner men. And many more wild races and a maege. An Iron Throne. A deposed king's brother and sister. An Usurper. All fight to win or keep the Throne. But in a Game of Thrones, you win or you die.

What worked : Many things actually. The scope and sheer level of imagination is truly astounding. The author introduces so many characters right away that it was a little confusing in the beginning. But as the book starts weaving it's magic, the characters make the book soar ...more

I haven't finished this, not sure if I will. The story is very monotonous and a bit boring. There are so many characters that got very confusing who was who. I didn't like the dirty talking and things like that. ...more

As like always I was reluctant to pick up a fat book like this one. More often, I get put off by those few snoring chapters in a big fat book. But after I was finished with watching season 4 of Game of Thrones series on HBO, I couldn't contain my quest to know more about this game of blood.
