A unique and riveting novel about a murder trial and the jurors who spent six months of their lives dedicated to performing their civic duty and ultimately freeing a potentially guilty man.

As the ten year reunion approaches, a docuseries intends to revisit the jurors to go over their stories and see if they changed their opinion. One juror, the last to concede that Bobby Nock was innocent, allegedly has irrefutable proof that Nock was in fact guilty of murdering Jessica Silver.

As always, they were most together when disobeying the rules.

THE HOLDOUT by Graham Moore was a very quick and easy read for me. I read this one in a day, just in time for a book club discussion the following day. The pages flew past me, and I was engaged in the main character and her quest for the truth.
If you are having a dreaded reading slump, this might be the book to pull yourself out of it!

2.5*

This is not my usual genre but I thought I would give it a try as part of a buddy read.

The story is fast paced and a page turner. However, it wasn’t for me. There was a lack of character development. I don’t think the story needed it but it prevented me from connecting to it.

I did like that the book tackled that justice is often not really justice it’s about how things look, what can be proven and who has the best strategy? I do find stories about the relationships between jurors in high pr

This book is a legal thriller which I have never read before, and I loved it!

This book is mostly narrated by Maya Seale, a former juror turned defense attorney. Ten years ago, Maya was one of the jurors on a famous case against Bobby Nock, a teacher who is the prime suspect in the disappearance of one of his students. Maya persuades the rest of the jury that Bobby Nock is innocent, which sets several events into motion.
Ten years later, the jurors on the trial meet up for a reunion and Maya is o

The last two pages honestly changed a lot of things. The story does tie up in a bow nicely!!

I really enjoyed the suspense and intrigue of this book, but was not a huge fan of the end. Although, I suppose real life is more like that than the happy endings I generally like to read about.

Maya and Rick were among the 12 jurors in a highly public murder trial of Jessica, a rich, white student by her black teacher, Bobby. The complexities of the trial pit Maya’s verdict against all other jurors and the alleged murderer is acquitted.

Ten years later, after having published a detailed book on the trial and also thrashing Maya’s verdict of not guilty, Rick organizes a true crime TV show where once again, all the jurors come together in the same location. Predictably, Rick and Maya qui

Thank you to Netgalley and Orion Publishing group for my ARC in exchange for an honest review..

Ten years ago, Maya found herself on the jury for a murder trial of a 15-year-old girl whose body was never found. To the public and the girls family a conviction was the only possible outcome, that is until Maya manages to persuade the other jury members to vote not guilty.

Today, Maya is now a successful defense attorney and the prime suspect in the murder of one of the jurors after a reunion at the h

This was a great story! I loved reading it, and the timeline moving back and forth so we could get to know each juror. I'm not sure how believable how everything ends up is. Also the selfishness of a couple of characters is truly irritating. All in all a great, quick read for me, but the issues knocked a star off. ...more

I really enjoyed this one. The book centers around the reunion of a jury ten years after their controversial verdict finding the defendant not guilty. Things take a turn when one of the jurors is found dead.

The book goes back and forth between current day and ten years in the past. We learn about the trial and the various members of the jury and how they were persuaded to find the defendant not guilty.

Overall I enjoyed the legal aspect of the book. It was fascinating to see what motivated the v
