⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (rounded up!)
The novel opens in 1989 when an officer makes a fairly routine visit to a farm to ask the owner to reign in his animals. He quickly finds nearly the entire family brutally (and graphically) murdered.
Jump to present day and we meet Detectives Thulin and Hess. Thulin is a capable though standoffish detective building her resume and seeking a promotion to NC3. Hess has been hopping from force to force and has become a running joke among other officers who don’t take him seri ...more

“If you find one, he’s already found you.”
I’m totally a Nordic Noir convert. Of the procedural books I’ve read this year this one takes top spot - in addition I’m a huge fan of Stieg Larsson and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, so I think this is a genre we all need to jump into ASAP. I think I hear a backlist challenge calling!!!

The characters were deep and the description of the the different police and the inner workings was fascinating. Every time I thought I had it figured out, there was a twist. And I definitely didn’t see the

Thank You to NetGalley and Harper Collins and the author for the digital ARC I received in exchange for a candid review.
The beginning is extremely violent and the murders continue along this graphic line. The story is page turning and gruesome as expected for a suspense crime novel. I didn’t find any part obvious, although the ending did feel a bit conventional and seemed to be never ending. I feel like the explanation of why the killer committed each murder would have created more suspense thro ...more

There’s a serial killer on the loose in Copenhagen and the killer leaves a creepy chestnut man doll as a calling card. The killer also likes to take a souvenir from his victims. I’ll let you guess what the souvenirs are!
This book was really long and there were many characters to keep track of. However, I loved the short chapters! I listened to some of the audiobook and the narrator was excellent. This was scary, sickening, and well written and I just couldn’t look away! This was the perfect boo ...more
