[close] Out-With was a very depressing place, not only for the prisioners but for the people on the other side living what was supposed to be the good life. The lonleyness of no near by friends and relitives caused Brunos family to go back to Berlin with out the father. As you will find out Bruno will make the biggest mistake of his life.
Bruno- Bruno is a young 9 year old and very curious boy. He is a bit spoiled and loves going on adventuers. During this book he is living a strick military life, but was ignorant about what went on around him.

Mom- Bruno's mom is an average very loving mother. She respects the fathers choices, and lives under the fathers rules.

Father- Bruno's father is a dedicated military commandant and is dedicated to his job, but at the same time is also a very loving parent.

Shmuel- Shmuel is a 9 year old jewish boy living an awful life in a concentration camp. He is Bruno's only friend at Out-With and happens to share the same birthday with his best friend.

Gretel- Gretel is a grouchy older sister of Bruno, she likes to pick on him and thinks she knows everything.

Maria- Maria is the familys maid. She had helped Bruno understand more about his questions such as the "other side of the fence" She explains to Bruno how he should respect his father more, even though he might say no sometimes.

Grandparents- Brunos grandparents are very nice, it turns out that they really love their son ( Bruno's father) but really dislike his job.

I thought this book was good, I really liked how the author explained all the events that happend using descriptive words that could help you picture what was going on. I also liked the theme of the book, although it isn't the happiest topic ( The Holocaust) but it is very interesting and I love to know more information about it.

I recomend this book to people who like plot twists and lots of surprises. Also if you like to learn and know more about peoples life living during the time of the Holocaust, then this book is a good book for you.
