When I first read this book, I wasn't super attached to it. I mean, I was devastated at Beth's death, but isn't everyone? The novel as a whole didn't stick with me, and it wasn't until rereading it this year that I was truly struck by it. 3.5/5. 7/10 (or 6.5 because it dragged on a bit too much). was it a good book? yeah, it had to be. it's a classic. it's also somehow very very long and it didn't get me Hooked. i love that i read half and went to watch the 2019 film, then finished the other half, because the movie made me like the book a bit more, and the book made me appreciate the movie much more.
