I don't know if I can form clear thoughts because I literally just finished it, and I couldn't even get through most of the epilogue without crying. It's a very fresh wound, but as a whole it was a lot less sad than I expected. I was expecting like everyone to die basically, because I'm a Joss Whedon fan and am used to that happening. I was okay with Jessamine dying, I liked her more in death than in life, and the fact that she only exchanged words with Will the entire book was really meaningful I don't know if I can form clear thoughts because I literally just finished it, and I couldn't even get through most of the epilogue without crying. I was okay with Jessamine dying, I liked her more in death than in life, and the fact that she only exchanged words with Will the entire book was really meaningful and special to me, I think they really came to have a respect and admiration for each other. I know a lot of people hated Jessamine for betraying them, and I was angry with her too, but mostly I feel sorry for her. I'm glad she's found happiness in protecting the Institute.

Uhg I LOVED Magnus in this book so much, his relationship with Will is so great. It's not the kind of relationship you can really label, as so many of the relationships in this series are. When he was saying goodbye to Will at the end and saying he'd never forget him and you know he doesn't because of TMI oh the tears were flowing.

Although I predicted most of the things that happened in this book (Tessa being half Shadowhunter, half demon, Jem becoming Brother Zachariah, Cecily/Gabriel) I still felt satisfied. Reading about Will dying was so horribly sad to me, but I mostly feel glad that he was able to live to an old age, to have children and grandchildren, and to spend all those years with Tessa. I know that's all he could have wanted. I'm so used to picturing him as this bright, young, funny person, picturing him as a dying old man is just something I cant do.

I didn't think there was a way for the love triangle to end happily, but Cassie found a way. I'm glad that so many years after Will passed away, Tessa and Jem could find each other again and keep that love that exists between the three of them alive. It is unlike anything I've seen or read before, how those three loved each other beyond words, beyond anything, it's really and incredible thing. I don't think anyone could doubt that Will, Tessa and Jem are tied to each other permanently, regardless in your favoritism towards one ship. There is no third wheel in this, there's no lost person. I'm so happy Will and Tessa, in their own way, got to grow old together, got to be parents, got to see the world and love each other all that time. I am also glad that Tessa still has Jem, I wouldn't wish having to see the two people you love most get old and die on anyone, but I guess that's the pain of being immortal. That's Tessa's burden. That's her choice, it's a brave choice to go down that path again, knowing that you'll never truly recover from the hole it leaves.

Otherwise, yea I loved it. Loved Charlotte being named Consul. Loved Sophie ascending. Loved Cecily, Gabriel, Tessa, and Will going to meet the Herondales. Loved all the fight scenes. Secretly loved Consul Wayland getting murdered by an automaton. Love the family tree. I loved it all. Very pleased, I cant believe it's over though. Oh yea how badass was Tessa turning into the Angel? But it's so sad that's the same Angel that Valentine had in his basement. Poor thing. I've rambled enough, but probably haven't covered half of the things I loved about this book. I'll end with some of my highlighted kindle quotes:

"Gibberish?" Jem suggested. "Pornographic?" said Will at the same time. "Could be both," said Will. "Haven't you ever heard of pornographic gibberish before?"

"Heroes endure because we need them. Not for their own sakes."

"I cant wear this, Mangus. It's too pretty for a man." "So are you."

"I am dramatic," said Will. "If I had not been a Shadowhunter, I would have had a future on the stage. I have no doubt I would have been greeted with acclaim."

Another note: People who are saying Tessa getting with Jem at the end and loving him all along is somehow disrespectful to Will's memory uhm what? Apparently we know a different Will Herondale. There is no way he'd resent Tessa for finding love again especially not when it's Jem, who Will loved too. Loving them both doesn't mean she loved Will less than she should have. No one was complaining when she was engaged to Jem and still in love with Will. They all love each other, in different ways, but not in different amounts. The measure of love is that there is no measure. I don't think a lot of people understood the point of this book and this love triangle. ...more

Alright, first off I FREAKING LOVED THE BOOK PART OF THIS BOOK
the epilouge, not so much.

So i really loved how much more we understand Will in this book. It's just awesome. I love how there's all these little connections throughtout the books.

So it's 2:30 in the morning...and I've used up all of my tissues. I'm bawling my eyes out from the ending.... I seriously can't think straight at the moment.

I loved this series so much, much much more than TMI. I loved Tessa as a character, I loved that she didn't just think constantly of one thing (Clary=Jace) she cared and loved other people and always put them above herself. The same with Sophie. And Magnus, I love him even more after this series than I did in TMI.

To say this book is brilliant is an understatement. I cried, I laughed, and I lived alongside the characters. The setting was so beautifully portrayed. You can tell that Cassandra Clare poured her heart into this story and I am still in tears. Beautiful ending to a beautiful story.
