As it is with all of Cassie's books, the wait for the next instalment in the Infernal Devices series was excruciating to say the least! Mulling over the previous book, wondering over the loose threads and still holding that dim hope that Will may change...when I picked it up (finally!) I was not disappointed.

Book 2 in the series dives straight into the Victorian setting all females secretly adore and the tension (more like ever-present-glare-contest) between Will and Tessa is formidable. Jem (wh As it is with all of Cassie's books, the wait for the next instalment in the Infernal Devices series was excruciating to say the least! Mulling over the previous book, wondering over the loose threads and still holding that dim hope that Will may change...when I picked it up (finally!) I was not disappointed.

Book 2 in the series dives straight into the Victorian setting all females secretly adore and the tension (more like ever-present-glare-contest) between Will and Tessa is formidable. Jem (who is the biggest sweetheart if I may say so) is becoming close friends with Tessa, her shoulder to cry on and steadfast companion, whereas Will is sinking deeper and deeper into the quagmire (I LOVE that word!) of his secrets; secrets that could well be his undoing.

Betrayal, love - both true and unrequited - , heartbreak, friendship and of course Cassie's signature humour (does demon pox ring a bell anyone? Quick spoiler: LOVED the song! Considering it was impromptu, Will did a fabulous job!) make this book one that should be on every fantasy-lover's bookshelf (or bookshelves, as the case may be).

The things that killed me: #1...Will.

He's so...cute. And poetic, and Darcy/brooding Victorian guy...it's not fair! I mean, obviously feelings towards him after his 'Tessa I think you're a...*cough* lady of low moral standing' stunt were hostile from Will fangirls - most of whom switched to Jem at the end of Book 1. But be ready to switch back, or even ship both, in book 2!

I love how Tessa isn't like Clary...no offence to any Clary fans. Tessa at age 16 is resolute in her beliefs, virtuous (to a degree), sensible and a delight to read about. Her suffering, character and her bravery all create a heroine who isn't afraid to question not only those she loves, not only those with beauty, but also herself.

Fave funny lines - oh where to start?!

#1: The Demon Pox Song. (Which I learnt off my heart and like to sing to torment my friends *smirk*)
#2: "License my roving hands and let them go?" (Gees, Will. Way to make an impression.)
#3: "And sometimes, they're even supposed to blow up!" (Poor Henry)
#4: "Is it because I'm better looking than you?" (Well...Will's ego certainly hasn't deflated.)
#5: Magnus' "rather apt since we're on a balcony" comment. Priceless.
#6: Every other line from Will.

Loved it to bits and now waiting, thoughts running rampant through my head, for book 3. Clockwork Princess, here we come!! ...more

I'm in love with this trilogy!!! I think it's absolutely way better than The Mortal Instruments, especially after reading City of Fallen Angels.

This is my second time reading Clockwork Prince. I love that we learn more about all of the characters. I really think that Cassandra has done an amazing job with series because the story isn't focused on the action, but the characters and their struggle of finding out what the Magister is planning and why. There are so many books out their that tons of action and an awesome plot, but never focuses on the character development. I knew it. I knew it. I knew it. I knew it.

I love Jem but I'm starting to think Tessa will only be genuinely happy if she's with Will.

~~That being said, can I have Jem for myself?~~

Waiting for Clockwork Princess (with snippets in between) will be a long and painful one. Until then, I have to forget this series or I will seriously go crazy. ...more
