Ich weiß nicht, ob die Lobeshymnen, welche ich auf die wunderbare Cassandra Clare singen möchte, jemals enden werden - und es ist doch etwas verwunderlich, wie großartig ich sie sowohl als Autorin, als auch als Person, finde, wo sie es mit jedem ihrer Bücher schafft, mir geradezu das Herz zu brechen, denn ihre Geschichten lassen einem gar keine andere Wahl, als sich von ihnen mitreißen zu lassen in die Welt der Shadowhunter, in eine gefährliche und so f For love is as strong as death.

Ich weiß nicht, ob die Lobeshymnen, welche ich auf die wunderbare Cassandra Clare singen möchte, jemals enden werden - und es ist doch etwas verwunderlich, wie großartig ich sie sowohl als Autorin, als auch als Person, finde, wo sie es mit jedem ihrer Bücher schafft, mir geradezu das Herz zu brechen, denn ihre Geschichten lassen einem gar keine andere Wahl, als sich von ihnen mitreißen zu lassen in die Welt der Shadowhunter, in eine gefährliche und so faszinierende Welt. Sie lässt einem gar keine andere Wahl, als ihre Charaktere ins Herz zu schließen und mit ihnen zu leiden, wenn ihnen Leid geschieht - und leider scheint Cassie vor allem daran viel Gefallen zu finden. Aber was sage ich denn? Irgendwie mögen wir es doch alle, wenn wir bei einer spannenden Geschichte nicht nur wirklich darin eintauchen können, sondern auch noch so richtig mitleiden. Was wäre ein Buch, wenn alles von Anfang an immer nur ein großes "happily ever after" wäre? Trotzdem gelingt es Cassie wunderbar, mich mit ihren Charakteren, ihrer geschaffenen Welt verbunden zu fühlen, als wäre all das ein Teil von mir selbst, Freunde, die man einfach ins Herz geschlossen hat - oder vielleicht sind wir alle viel mehr ein Teil dieser Welt als sie einer von uns. Okay, bevor ich weiter um den heißen Brei herum hänge, kommen wir zu meiner Meinung über Clockwork Prince. Besonders hat das Buch, wie ich finde, gemacht, dass Mortmain - der Big Bad der The Infernal Devices Reihe - nicht einmal anwesend war, aber doch schaffte er es aus der Ferne, Tessa, Will, Jem und den Branwells einen Stein nach dem anderen in den Weg zu legen. Viele Abgründe taten sich auf, Geheimnisse wurden gelüftet, mit welchen niemand gerechnet hätte - nachdem die aktuelle Zukunft der Lightwoods, Alec und Izzie, so wunderbar sind, wer hätte da gedacht, dass es einst einen Lightwood gab, der womöglich dafür hätte verantwortlich sein können, dass der Name Lightwood für immer aus den Reihen der Nephilim verschwindet? Doch noch immer stellt man sich Fragen, welche man sich bereits nach dem Lesen von Clockwork Angel schon stellte: Was genau ist Tessa überhaupt? Es gab wieder keine genaue Antworten darauf, keine Erklärungen, nur Spekualtionen, welche einen nur noch mehr verwirren und unmöglich scheinen... Was hat es mit ihrer Familie auf sich und wieso will Mortmain sie unbedingt haben? Es gab keinen großen Kampf gegen Mortmain im zweiten Buch der TID Trilogie, ein vollkommener Gegensatz zum zweiten Buch der TMI Reihe, als Jace und die anderen Valentine und seinem Dämonenheer auf dem Schiff entgegen traten. Mortmain hielt sich bewusst versteckt, zog die Fäden aus der Ferne. Er ist ein eiskalter, grausamer Stratege, kein Kämpfer, der sich selbst die Hände nicht schmutzig machen will. Man erfuhr mehr über Mortmains Vergangenheit, über die Beweggründe für sein Handeln und wieso er die Shadowhunter so sehr hasst - doch man kratzte nur an der Oberfläche. Bestimmt wird noch einiges mehr ans Tageslicht kommen im letzten Teil, schockierende Wahrheiten, die einen genau so in Atem halten werden.

In Clockwork Prince ging es nicht um einen großen Kampf gegen Mortmain, es war viel mehr die Vorbereitung auf den großen Showdown, der zweifelsohne im dritten und letzten Teil folgen wird. Es ging in diesem Buch um Tessa, Will und Jem - um Tessas Gefühlschaos, um Wills inneren Kampf gegen sich selbst, um die einstürzenden Schutzmauern um ihn herum, um seiner Suche nach einer Erlösung des Fluchs, unter welchem er litt. Es ging um Jems Liebe zu Tessa, welche zweifellos genau so stark ist wie Wills, aber doch anders - denn beide sind so grundverschieden, dass ihre Liebe zu Tessa sich anders äußert. Und beide liebt Tessa... Auch wenn ich in diesem Punkt sicher bin, dass ihre Gefühle für die beiden Jungen unterschiedlich sind, sie kann sie nicht beide auf die gleiche Art und Weise lieben. Sie liebt Will anders, als sie Jem liebt - ich behaupte nicht, dass sie Will mehr liebt, aber doch sind ihre Gefühle so leidenschaftlich und stürmisch wie ein unruhiges Meer. Ihre Gefühle für Jem sind ebenfalls stark und tiefgründig, sie will ihn beschützen und glücklich machen. Es ist verständlich, wieso Tessa von Will nicht los kommt. Genau so verständlich ist es, wieso sie Jems Heiratsantrag angenommen hat. Bei solchen Liebesdreiecken bin ich meist immer für eines der beiden Paare, doch bei den Dreien fällt es mir schwer. Tief in meinem Herzen bin ich noch immer für ein Happy End zwischen Will und Tessa, denn die beiden haben mich seit Clockwork Angel in ihren Bann gezogen. Es brach mir wirklich das Herz, dass Will so leiden muss, nach allem was er durchgemacht hat... Er war so glücklich, weil er Tessa endlich die Wahrheit sagen konnte. Und man wusste, dass sie ihm gleich das Herz brechen wird. Sie hat ihm nicht gesagt, was sie für ihn empfindet - genau so wie Will es zuerst bei ihr tat. Doch genau so traurig fände ich es, wenn Jem leiden muss, oder - was ich sogar am schlimmsten fände - die Freundschaft zwischen den beiden, die doch so viel mehr sind als "nur" beste Freunde, zerstört wird, weil sie das gleiche Mädchen lieben. Ich weiß nicht, wie das ganze ausgehen wird, doch sicher ist, dass Tessas Entscheidung bestimmt nicht endgültig ist. Wird es am Ende überhaupt für eins der beiden Paare ein glückliches Ende geben?

Auch viele kleine Highlights gab es in dem Buch, wie Sophie und Gideon (hier bin ich besonders gespannt, wie das weiter gehen wird), Charlotte und Henry und Wills Song über demon pox. Das war einfach nur großartig.

Ich bin sehr gespannt auf Clockwork Princess und kann es kaum erwarten, das Buch zu lesen. ...more

Wow... This book is amazing. I was so pulled into this installment of The Infernal Devices series, that all the characters became completely real to me. This doesn't happen that often, but it does when a story is so well-told that I forget I'm just reading a book of total fiction.

The first book (Clockwork Angel) is wonderful and I highly suggest everyone read it who hasn't already, but this one (Clockwork Prince) is immaculate. Although, I don't think a read EDIT: My favorite YA read from 2012.

Wow... This book is amazing. I was so pulled into this installment of The Infernal Devices series, that all the characters became completely real to me. This doesn't happen that often, but it does when a story is so well-told that I forget I'm just reading a book of total fiction.

The first book (Clockwork Angel) is wonderful and I highly suggest everyone read it who hasn't already, but this one (Clockwork Prince) is immaculate. Although, I don't think a reader would think that quite as much if they weren't already invested in the characters prior to reading it. If you haven't already fallen for Tessa, Will and Jem (even Sophie & Magnus), then you might not like this one as much, since its primary focus is on these characters' relationships with each other.

Cassandra Clare is an author who knows how to tell a story the right way. In book 1, we get a very plot-rich story wherein we spend 500 pages learning about the characters and seeing them showing off their true colors as they react to different plot stimuli. The romance is saved for late in the book, and even then, it is still very light. If Clare had decided to ram the romance down our throats from the onset of the story, it would have given us all indigestion, because we need time to get to know who these people are first before we enjoy that kind of intimacy. Who wants to watch strangers making out in public? Anyone? Not me. So, you need to learn to care about the people of that world first, then becoming a romance voyeur is not only acceptable, but highly anticipated.

In book 2, the plot is now able to take a bit of a backseat to the overall narrative (but, not completely), and we can focus on our lovable characters. We can get into all the drama of romance, broken hearts, disappointment, the mania of love and desire, etc., because we love these characters already and we want to see what happens—we want to see what they will do and say to each other. With perfect timing, Clockwork Prince definitely satisfies in that regard.

I personally adored this (that's not even the right word. It's more than that!) because it gave me everything I wanted. Any Jem fan, like me, will be able to dig their own grave and lie down in it, because they can now die happy. Go out on a high note! But, it is not without a semblance of sadness, too, because Tessa experiences her own complications with her brother (and, my heart goes out to her so much over that problem), and Will has a sort of epiphany of his wasted potential, which is tragic in its own right. Like any truly great book, there is a good mixture of happiness and sadness.

I'll just ask now, can I have Jem? He's one of those characters you want to be real so badly, you almost believe you can reach inside the book's pages and pull him out. Ah, if only... I have to add him to the list of fictional 19th century heroes that make me squee, if only because he is the ideal gentleman. In this volume, we really get to see his true colors, see that he is a human being, flawed in his own beautiful way (different from Will's way), and prone to being overwhelmed by emotion and feeling. You get to see just how fragile his heart is, and how precious he is to his dearest friends.

If you've been harboring doubts about this series, you really shouldn't. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed by it. The world-building is thorough, the characters fully developed, their relationships with each other raw and real, and plenty of interesting things happen all the time. What more do you need? It's nearly perfect. ...more

Wow, I LOVE this series!! Exciting, hilarious, heart-breaking at times. My only complaint is a couple of predictable things, but I wasn’t bothered too much that I could see them coming well ahead of time. Cassandra REALLY knows how to write a compelling and addicting love triangle like no one else!! I haven’t read one this good in AGES! I LOVE both of the guys here and, although I do favor one of them, I wouldn’t be heartbroken if the other one gets the girl instead, since they are both such fan ...more

First of all, What a weird ending. At first I was like. Aweh, that's cute. But by the last part of it, I was like. Wait. What? Did I read that right? Huh... lol. I really like this series. I actually like it better than the mortal instruments series, as surprising as that sounds. It's just that the mortal instruments series is so dragged out and long, even if it's so awesome I'm still reading it. You get what I mean, right?

Wow. Wow. Wow.

This was a pretty awesome book. I can't believe I waited so long to read it, another stupid book move on my part.

I have always been a super huge fan of the world that Cassandra Clare had created with TMI and The Infernal Devices. Whereas, I haven't always been the biggest fan of the TMI series, I am a HUGE fan of this series :)

Another great book by Cassandra Clare!

For as long as these books are I wouuld hope to find out a little bit more information. However, even though they are long, with a lot of fill space, she keeps you hooked to the book. This took me about a day and a half to read, and was quite the refresher after the last book that I read.

This is by far the best work by Cassie Clare. I've never come across a love triangle where I love both contestants equally. The way Cassie wrote the story made me root for both and I feel sorry for Tessa and the predicament she found herself in. I wouldn't be able to chose one over the other either.
There is not one thing I would have changed about this book. Everything fell in place nicely and my only complain is the long wait for the next book. ...more

I love Jem but I'm starting to think Tessa will only be genuinely happy if she's with Will.
