Shelves: disappointments, dnf

DNFd at 30%.

My problems?

1. Very slow to start. I literally fell asleep 5 times while reading this book...

2. Info-dump. Should I get a pad of paper and write this all down so I don't forget everything being thrown at me?

3. Very overused and unrealistic plot of girl-disguised-as-boy-yet-no-one-knows.

4. I don't have time to struggle through this one!! Perhaps it gets better? I don't know, and I don't have time to wait and see. ...more

Definitely not my favorite book of the year. Honestly, it probably should have been a DNF. The first two chapters I could have done without and I almost did DNF it but then it picked up and I was like, “okay I’ll go be it another try…” And by the time it slowed down again I figured I’ve made it this far I might as well finish it.

For an Sleeping Beauty retelling the story was very underwhelming. We waited over 300 pages for Aurora to finally confront the ogre Queen and it was over in less than 5 ...more
