My favorite part of this book was the beautiful writing and the touching character development. In throne of glass, we meet this bad-ass, cocky, hilarious character who we all adore despite her major flaws. In crown of midnight, we once again are with a cocky, awesome Celaena (with a awesome plot of course). But then in Heir of Fire, we see this new side of Celeana that we've only seen hints of. She's completely broken, self-hating, and depressed. OMFG THIS WAS AMAZING!!! WORDS CAN NOT EXPLAIN. My favorite part of this book was the beautiful writing and the touching character development. She's completely broken, self-hating, and depressed. There points in this book where my heart broke over and over for her. The writing was so amazing that I completely fell into this character and when she finally broke, i felt like I broke too. But then, thanks to the help of a certain prince, Celeana came back stronger and more determined than ever. When she went through her bad ass, killing-the-creatures moment, I was literally squirming with joy and by how kick ass and awesome it was. But all this was thanks to sarah J. Mass' absolutely stunning writing. This book didn't focus on just the romance and all that, this book was truly devoted to the plot and Celeana's self journey, but we also get to see Chaol and Dorian, along with Maron, the ruthless witch, who I actually kinda ended up liking. Though I really really hope Chaol and Celeana get back together, I loved getting to see these characters grow and become better people. Everything that Mass wrote had a purpose and I could imagine everything perfectly. This book was flawlessly done and I want more! But now to get on to my other favorite part of this book: the friendship between Celeana and Rowan. When they first met, they hated each other. Rowan was cold and ruthless, and actually seemed please to know that Celeana was hurting. And Celeana was closed off and bitter. But as they train together, while neither of them admitting it for a while, they began to kinda enjoy the others presences. Rowan taught her much needed control, and without him, I don't think Celeana would ever of been able to come back. By the end of the book, they had one of the most beautiful, touching friendships that I've read about. My heart was truly warmed during some of there adorable moments. To see these two characters who hated each other begin to love each other (as friends) truly was amazing. Rowan was healing Celeana's wounds, and showed her that she did have someone she could count on. And I truly believe that Celeana was Rowan's first sincere relationship since his mate died so long ago. "And I claim you" AHHHHH!!!! When Rowan fought to get to her during the fight with the creatures and they ended up being connected through that bond thingy (sorry I can't remember the name). They were pretty much parabatai. I ship their friendship so much it hurts.
But now to talk about the end! I was very nervous when Celeana was going to Maeve, I didn't think she'd get out alright. And I knew that Rowan was bound to Maeve. But wow, just wow. Celeana was so bad ass and truly just executed Maeve and all her evil. When Rowan was released from her and then just once again immediately bound himself to Celeana, that was just so touching. But Dorian!!! He isn't my favorite character out of everyone, but I still care for him! It would've been better if he'd died! Now he's going to be bound to the man he hates! And poor Scorcha, if Dorian comes back then he's going to be so heart broken, he has nobody. I really really hope that Chaol redeems himself in the next book with Aedion, and that they both reunite with Celeana, cause that was something I was really hoping for in this book. I know that Chaol and Celeana won't every be how they were before, but I'm willing to wait if it means they get back together. I know it'll have to be a very slow and painful process for them to become good again. Chaol will have to prove himself worthy to Celeana and they will pretty much have to start over from scratch. But I really loved them together and I hope to see them together again. I have much excitement and hope for the next book, since Aelin is back and stronger than ever, I think they have a chance at beating the king. But I'm sure Mass will have something terrible in store for us! I really really recommend this to anyone who read the other books, because it's even better than the other two! But in the end this book turned out even better than Crown of Midnight. There was more action and more new characters. I bow to Sarah J. Maas because she did really great job writing this book. ~~Seriously, this book is just a collection of beautiful quotations.~~ I had high expectations about this book which, as it seemed at the beginning, wouldn’t live up. But in the end this book turned out even better than Crown of Midnight. There was more action and more new characters. I bow to Sarah J. Maas because she did really great job writing this book. The plot development was gradual and steady, allowing readers to process it and to understand where this is all going and what to expect. The character development was something incredible. The structure of the chapters allowed to see what was going on in different parts of the fictional world with different characters. And the writing was great, as it expressed characters’ thoughts, feelings and emotions very vividly and helped to understand the importance of the key moments better.

If you saw me crying over Heir of Fire, the first reason for this was Celaena’s character development. It was immense. In one book she went from being Celaena Sardothien, broken inside and deprived of any hope, to Aelin Galathynius, embracing her true identity and determining to fight for her kingdom. The moment with Valg princes was crucial, as she relived her most terrifying memories and faced her fears. She found enough strength and courage to overcome them all, to accept what and who she was and to make the decision about what she must do. All of this was truly impressive.

Another advantage of this book is Rowan. When he first appeared in this book I wasn’t impressed by him much. Well, his appearance was impressive but he was too grumpy and gloomy. But as we learned his story it became clear that he is an excellent character with the tragic background and a lot of life experience.

The second reason of why I cried over this book is the relationship between Rowan and Aelin. Initially it was pure hatred. Rowan snarled at Aelin, they fought a lot and he didn’t help much with her magic. But that was only in the beginning because when they learned the stories of each other, they understood each other better. At first it seemed like they were totally different but then it turned out that they were not. Even Aelin noted that Rowan was like her own reflection. They had endured similar situations, so they could understand each other well even without words. So throughout the book they developed very strong and rare friendship which is really beautiful and amazing ~~and actually I can talk about it for hours~~.

The storyline about Manon Blackbeak and the witches was interesting, though I don’t quite understand what it was put in the book for. I liked the relationship between Manon and Abraxos and the impact the wyvern had on the witch. As for Chaol, I felt sorry for him. It seemed like everything was against him in this book and he does deserve to be happy. Aedion is a notable character. His love for his queen and the desire to meet her can’t be left without attention. I do hope he’ll get a chance of meeting Aelin. Sorscha pissed me off from the very moment she appeared in the book. A lowborn healer in love with the prince, posing as the embodiment of goodness and innocence – no. Just no. And what’s more, Dorian fell for all this stuff way too fast. (view spoiler)

All in all, I liked this book even more than the previous ones. When I was reading Throne of Glass, I didn’t expect this series to develop so great as it did and I’ve already got attached to the world and the characters Sarah J. Maas created. ...more

thanks to my ereader breaking I had a pause between reading this, I also own a signed copy but that's not being spoilt at all!

this book was just amazing. I recently met Sarah J Maas and she's just the most amazing and beautiful person ever. just like how I imagine Caelena and Aelin to be. Heir of fire is a novel that makes the series stronger! ...more

Another fabulous read! If I could give this 10 stars I would! I am so enraptured by this world it’s not even funny. I dream about this and can’t stop trying to figure out what will happen next. On to the next book I go!
