I really really REALLY wanted to give this 5 stars, and I would have but something about the ending was just off to me. I can't really say what because I don't want to give anything away. This book was so much fun to read! The only thing I can compare this at all to is the Percy Jackson series, but not because of the storyline, although this does take place at a school while Percy took place at a camp. I say that because they both include humor to lighten the mood during some very dark places in the books. Without that humor, this book would have been kinda heavy and at times depressing. But it wasn't. At all.

I loved Sophie! She is smart, funny, and she doesn't take herself too seriously. I enjoyed Jenna, Archer, and Cal, and of course I loved to hate Anna and Elodie. Jenna was a fun, likeable character when she wasn't busy (for good reason) sulking. Cal, quiet though he was, is quite the heartthrob and he seems like an all-around good guy. Archer is yet another heartthrob that is funny and interesting, plus he attacks a werewolf coming after Sophie on the first day of school. I liked that it was a boarding school setting and therefore the characters are forced to be in constant contact with one another so there is always some type of interaction going on.

This wasn't a literary masterpiece, but it wasn't meant to be. It is a young adult book that can be enjoyed by anyone, any age can enjoy. It was definitely easy to read and a very quick read, and this series is shaping up to be a great one! Now I am off to read Demonglass! ...more

This series didn't seem really good when I started. I thought about quitting, but soon after awhile it got really good and the ending was amazing. I am really glad I finshed this book. ...more
