So this is my third time reading this book. It's one of my all time favorites and I love to reread over and over again. So I thought why not do a review. I love all the characters they are absolutely fabulous. My favorite characters are Dimitri, Rose, and Christian. Dimitri is a freaking god a major bad ass, he is the strong silence. Two girls each different but form a unique bond that will change their lives forever. Lissa is a Moroi a living vampire the last of her family line which makes her a princess. Rose is a Dhampir half Moroi and half Dhampir raised to be a guardian to protect the Moroi. Together they flee the Academy fearing for Lissa’s safety after receiving threats, avoid psi hounds as well as Strigoi who want to kill Moroi. However they can’t stay on the run forever and are captured thus returned to the academy. Two girls each different but form a unique bond that will change their lives forever. Lissa is a Moroi a living vampire the last of her family line which makes her a princess. Rose is a Dhampir half Moroi and half Dhampir raised to be a guardian to protect the Moroi. Together they flee the Academy fearing for Lissa’s safety after receiving threats, avoid psi hounds as well as Strigoi who want to kill Moroi. However they can’t stay on the run forever and are captured thus returned to the academy. Lissa and Rose are best friends they share a connection between Moroi and Guardian which is unlike any in a long time.

The girls will have to accept their punishment in addition to keeping Lissa safe because the danger the one fled from has come back to haunt them again. Rose is forced into extra training with Lissa’s new guardian Dimitri to catch her up with the other novices. As the threats start showing up unlikely friendships will be formed, both girls will be tested and they may not survive that challenges that await them.

I wasn't sure I wanted to read The Vampire Academy series because I started the bloodlines series first. However I've heard so much love for the series I decided to give it a shot. It didn't take much for me to be drawn into Lissa and Rose’s world. I found both girl captivating in their own ways their stories are interesting and each one is unique in their own way. I found the concept for the vampire refreshing and exciting the Moroi are the living vampires that still need blood while the Strigoi are the dead vampires who lose the magic and are forced into the night. This is only the second series I've read with a Dhampir but I love the idea of being mixed blood. I also like the vampires have a secret council or are ruled by royal families it makes them more real for me. Everything about the story was awesome I enjoyed the suspense and can't wait to see what happens with Rose and Dimitri I hope they can get together. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

I have been meaning to read this book for a long, long time. I was really excited when I found it at my school library, but it took me a while to read it and when I did, it took me a month to finish. I just got really busy with school stuff that I was forced to hold off. But now I finally finished and I must say it was as awesome, maybe more, as I expected it. There was so much action, and suspense along with funny bits mixed in with longing and romance as the plot twisted and turned. There were I have been meaning to read this book for a long, long time. I was really excited when I found it at my school library, but it took me a while to read it and when I did, it took me a month to finish. I just got really busy with school stuff that I was forced to hold off. But now I finally finished and I must say it was as awesome, maybe more, as I expected it. There was so much action, and suspense along with funny bits mixed in with longing and romance as the plot twisted and turned. There were parts that explained more to the vampire world and how Lissa is different from others of her kind. The characters really made me get them each in their own way. Even though they were vampires and half vampires, I was still able to understand them and they mostly had human feelings. Rose was pretty good and really protective of Lissa. She would do anything to protect her, even risk her own life. She could be impulsive sometimes and party a lot which lead to her being reckless, but she was a great friend who wanted attention from her mother and has an attraction to her older mentor. She kept her feelings inside and sometimes let them out, but mostly she did what she had to do. Then there was Dimitri. He was a God and all that very one thoug of him as being a great guardian. But he was also passionate and sincere in feeling bad for killing Strigoi, but he knew he had to do. He really cared about Rose and listened to her when no one else did. He may have been older than her and was her mentor, but he wanted to be with her and saw her in a way no one else did. They were really good together and I want to read more. Lissa was another great character who was fragile sometimes because of what her powers were doing to her, but she can also be strong and determined sometimes, like when she wanted to help Rose and stop the rumors about her. She loved animals and wanted to help them and always wanted to make sure Rose was okay. But she also needed someone to love her and understand her like when she lost her family and now had to step up and act like a royal even though she didn't like the other royals. She needed to be free from that burden. Rose tried to help her but so did Christian. Christian could seem like a dark and a little crazy sometimes, but he meant well and really liked Lissa. He just needed to show it. He cared about her and at times didn't care that she was a princess. He may have been invisible and looked down on because of the actions of his parents, but he wasn't like that. I loved him with Lissa and I really want them to be together forever. I was glad that at least they got together in this book. So overall, I really loved these four characters along with Mason, he was great too and a awesome friend to Rose. The ending was good too and I can't wait to read more of this series. I am also going to watch the movie soon too I read the books in the Bloodlines series expect for the last two books, one of which I have and it's one of the my favorite series. So this series have been added to my favorites list and can't wait to read more. Loved it and enjoy!!!!! ...more

So I’ve finally got round to reading Vampire Academy. The book so many people have been raving about for years and I must admit I wasn’t disappointed.

Richelle Mead had an easy and fluent writing style. I was a little apprehensive before I began because I read the blurb and thought, dear Lord this sounds complicated! How on earth am I going to understand all the different types of vampire! But Richelle Mead doesn’t’ overload you with information in huge clumps of boring backstory (like so many others in this genre). Instead she spreads it out, taking her time and balances all this information with witty sarcasm, which takes the form of the lead character Rose.

Rose was so kick-ass it was awesome! And I found the friendship/relationship between her and Lissa to be very realistic and heartfelt. They didn’t always agree but they cared so much about each other that it didn’t matter. It was nice to have a friendship at the heart of the book rather than a love interest. Although don’t think that means there wasn’t any because there was.

I liked that the males in this book weren’t ridiculously implausible. I usually find that in YA paranormal-romances the male love interest is usually either bad news, broody and totally obnoxious or drop dead gorgeous, the perfect guy, sparkles and all. But in this, the guys are just guys, (well vampire guys anyway). I liked Dimitri but I must admit I think I love Christian. The misunderstood guy always gets my heart. It was interesting experiencing both romances through one character, as Rose was connected to Lissa. Such a clever idea and well played through the book to allow us to see outside of Rose’s surrounding but without losing her snarky witticisms.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I will be reading Frostbite as soon as possible

Okay okay i admit i got hooked to this book in like the first few pages and i didnt even know what was going on but you know i good sense the good vibe! Anyways lets go to my favorite subject......Rose's Personality!!! This was the best...she would never fail to make me smirk at her witty and funny comments. And then DIMITRI!!!! *swoon*

K scratch that never mind i wanna talk about Dimitri...the fact that this a forbidden relationshiops O.M.G and that he is a super hot sexy mentor ...more

Well written typical teenage story. Without the overtly slang-ey dialog present in some YA books, I found Vampire Academy more mature and really liked it because of that particular aspect. One thing Richelle Mead is fantastic at is when Rose is transported into Lissa's mind, the reader is right there along side her to the point of becoming Rose herself. Reading these scenes myself I could not tell that Lissa was the one experiencing these things--and not Rose. ...more

I love it. There is no words for how magnificent is this book. I mean, the setting is just gorgeous. We get the vampire, the daphirs, I just love it. We get the badass girl, the gentleman badass guy, the super chick best friend (who is a total badass on her own way), the Goth cool badass with fire within his reach (literaly) and the selfish bitch (Love you, MIA) who is a total pain in the ass. One of the best vampire books I've ever read!! I just couldn't put it down. The story was just so consuming, overwhelming with adventure. Rose Hathaway is just one badass heroine. I'm in love with her character. Of course, and also Dimitri. :)) ...more
