I read this when Twilight was the newest craze and fell in love with it. The protagonist was a badass, and I like badass protagonists. The fantasy world was believable and sucked me in and the characters were both likeable and believable. The only negative thing I would say about this book (and the others in the series) is that the author tried a little too hard to make Rose (protagonist) a strong, fearless female lead. I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I liked most of the characters and all their unique traits, and look forward to seeing how it all turns out. The plot was good and makes you want to read the book.

but why do i feel as if dimitri is much more mature at 24 (maybe bc ik that age now) & rose is so much more immature. like she def acts her age like a highschool which is totally fine but dimitri being attracted to that is giving me the hibijeebies !!!! idk 😭😭😭
Rereading this book i can tell why i gave it 5 stars 6 years ago. Rose isn't oblivious and i love intelligent protagonists. Despite being reckless, which she has clear reason to be since ...more
