This book contains 20 short stories written by young writers aged 11 to 15 with a theme: Kuala Lumpur.

These young writers had showcased their talent and hard work through this collection, from the detailed description of settings, characters development to their vocabulary usage. Not to mention the collection consists of a diverse writing style such as suspense, conflict, and comedy. I always believe that honesty is the best quality that art can have. Each and every story from the collection is filled with heart. They are not merely superficial stories of KL but rather they go deep into human emotion. You might expect these young writers would write some 'cute' stories. But this collection is beyond that. This collection reflects writers’ maturity and sensitivity towards their surroundings. A story like The Cook, The Orphan, The Modelling Job, The Handkerchief, Out of Tune (to mention a few) really touched my heart. Halfway through the book, I had to remind myself that this book was written by adolescents.

I was getting a mini heart attack reading the first story as iit lingered around illegal smuggling of exotic animals . Which is so timely referring to our latest world development.

I believe that these young writers are good readers as well. I could see the references and the influences like Agatha Christie, Enid Blyton and Percy Jackson. It’s a great book for youngsters to read because these kinds of stories will teach them to be concerned about social-cultures, particularly when it was written through the eyes of their age group. It will also inspire our youngsters to express themselves through writing as these young writers did brilliantly.

Even though there are rooms for improvement, I genuinely believe with more reading and writing, these young writers will be writing a masterpiece if not some.

I encouraged everyone to read it. It’s incredible how stories from these young writers can knock your heart and tell you that you haven’t opened your eyes big enough. It really hit home.

It truly was an honour for me to have had a chance to read this book. I also would like to wish all the best to all the young writers!
