This book was only mediocre to me at best. There was a lot of hype about this and it came highly recommended from both friends and authors alike, but it was a major let down. I can't stand the set-up with some guy starts to tell his story to some friends at a bar. I can get past it, but the story kept cutting back to incredibly dull, irrelevant moments in the present and that really detracted from the story. This book is compulsively readable. I averaged 100 pages a day. I would sit down, read, and in what felt like no time, I had read a lot. And I love that feeling. In terms of the content, I had expectations of more Fantasy (magic, fighting fantastical creatures, etc.) and while there's a little bit of that here, it didn't quite entrance me the way other works of fantasy have.
