My favorite novel by my favorite author, no I’m not biased. In the 1990's (high school for me), my uncle Rusty gave me this book. It sat and collected dust for at least a year. One day I was bored (probably grounded) and started to read it. I will say that prior to reading this novel the only sci-fi I had read was "Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy". OM MY GOODNESS! this was amazing, but messed up. it wasn't until I reached the end that I realised that he was 6 when he left. SIX! he was chosen to save the world at six years old for crying out loud! he was 12 at the end of the book... he graduated BATTLE school at TWELVE! tell me that isn't messed up? make him 16, and I can almost cope. 6 and it is just wrong. it doesn't stop it being an amazing book though... ...more

The whole idea of this book just amazes me that Ender was only six when the whole thing started for him. When that was first was mentioned I though that it must just be them referring to what year he was in school and not his actual age but that just makes the whole message of the book more astounding. Although it is hard to believe that a six year old would do this it ia ble to emphasise the message of the book.
