It has been more than 8 years ago that I read On the Island for the first time. I haven't reread this book because I was afraid I wouldn't love it as much as I did the first time I read it. However, when I couldn't find anything to read on New Year's Eve, I decided to reread one of my all time favorites anyway. I had this book on my Nook for a month before I read it on the recommendation of a friend. I think since I have a teenage son, I thought I would find this book, well, icky from the summaries that I had read. But is wasn't at all. It was so well written that I became emotionally involved with TJ and Anna. Chapter one was extremely brief....but it was also very effective in grabbing my attention. The rest of the book is the same. A page turner that one will breeze through in record time. The main characters are Ana, a 30 yr old tutor and TJ, her 16 yr old student.
