Having heard all the hype about the film recently I decided to read this book before watching the film. The narrative style made it interesting but also difficult to read in some parts. It was heart breaking at times, it is hard to imagine the pain and suffering that was inflicted on slaves even having learned and read about it before. Definitely worth a read.
Hate to say I loved it as it trivialises the subject matter but a fascinating and harrowing read
